World Inline FSA created

The creation of the World Inline Figure Skating Association

(WIFSA) took place earlier this year at a meeting of coaches,

skaters and officials at the 5th annual Paris International Open

of Inline Figure Skating.

Jean-Pierre Faugere of Paris, a multiple-time medalist in professional

ice dancing and certified figure skating coach, is the association’s

founding president.

The purpose of the WIFSA is to establish rules for inline figure skating

competitions, certify judges and promote inline figure skating. Founding

members are from France, Spain, Cypress, Romania, and the United States.

The Capital Area Inline Figure Skating Club in Washington D.C., is recognized

as the first of its kind in the United States.

Several coaches have adopted inline figure skating to create more skating

opportunities for their students. Skaters utilize specially designed inline

skates that feature a pic at the toe of the skate.

The WIFSA will hold its first World Open in Panticosa, Spain July 1-3, 2011
